THE ARCHIVAL WORLD WRITING RULES
General

Original works should be written in MS Office Word environment; titles, abstracts and keywords should be given both in Turkish and English. The main text should include the introduction, method, findings, discussion and conclusion and bibliography sections as well as annexes, if any. The first page of the study should include the title, abstracts and keywords in English. Page structure should be adjusted in A4 format (width: 21.0 cm; height: 29.7 cm) and vertically; margins should be 3 cm from the top, 3 cm from the bottom, 3 cm from the left and 3 cm from the right.

Work Title

Original work title; should be centered, in capital letters, before 0nk and after 12nk space should be left, bold, and Times New Roman in 14 font size.

Author Information

Author information should be created on an other Word page and uploaded to the system with the main text. Author name or institution information should not be included in the article word file. Author information word file should be used with the “Times New Roman” font.

Abstract

Before 0nk and after 6nk space should be left before the abstract title. Abstract text should be written in Times New Roman, 9 font size, italic and justified alignment. There should be minimum of 125 and a maximum of 250 words. The purpose, scope, research questions, method, findings and results of the research should be briefly explained in this field.


Keywords

Keywords of original study should be written in 8 font size, italic and left aligned. Minimum 3 and maximum 5 keywords should be added.


Main Text

The main text of the original work should start with the introduction, starting on the second page. It should be written in Times New Roman 11 font size and justified alignment; before 0nk, after 12nk space should be given to paragraphs. There should be also before and after 6nk space before the paragraphs. Also, before the latter title, it should be left 18 nk space. Direct quotations should be given in quotes; quotes less than five lines should be written between lines, and quotes longer than five lines should be written 1 cm to the left and right of the line, as blocks and single line spacing. In the text, footnotes should be used only for explanations.


Titles

The main section titles in the text should be Times New Roman 12 font size, all letters should be written in capital letters, bold and left aligned. Before 0nk, after 12nk space should be left after the main section titles. Sub-titles should be Times New Roman 11 font size, initial letters should be adjusted in capital, bold and left-aligned. Introduction, headlines, subtitles and conclusion sections should not be numbered.


Tables

Tables should be numbered from 1 in the main text. Table titles should be positioned in the middle of the table; the first letters should be written in bold capital and other letters will be lowercase (Example: Table 1.). The source of the table, if any, should be specified in Times New Roman 9 font size without any space under the table title (Example: Source: (Rodriguex, 2012)).

Graphics and Figures

Graphics and figures should be numbered from 1 in the main text. Graphic and figure titles should be positioned centered on the underside of them. The first letters should be capitalized and the other letters lowercase. (Example: Chart 1 or Figure 1 :). If the graphic has a resource, it should be specified as Times New Roman 9 font size without any space under the title (Example: Source: (Ribble, 2011, p. 44)).

References

References title should be 12 font size, Times New Roman, upper case and left-aligned. References should be written after 1 line of space is left after the title. While writing the references, 1 line space should be left.

Citation Layout

Citations in the study should be made by the method of in-text citation. The main guideline for citation is APA (American Psychological Association) 6th ed. known as APA style. The authors should follow it.

Single Author Work

(Surname, Year, Page Number.). Example: (Yalçınkaya, 2012, p. 1).

Two Authors

(First Author Surname and Second Author Surname, Year, Page Number.). Example: (Ünal and Özdemirci, 2017, p. 60).

Three or More Authors

First Citation: (First Author Surname, Second Author Surname and Third Author Surname, Year, Page Number.) Example: (Kakırman Yıldız, Yalçınkaya and Saydam, 2017, p. 19).

Later Citations: (First Author Surname et al., 2018, p. 43).

● Six or More Authors

First Citation: (First Author Surname et al., Year, Page Number.). Example: (Erkan et al., 2003, p. 110).

The sources used in the study should be written under the title of "References"; Times New Roman, 11 font size, author surname in alphabetical order as follows. 1 line space should be left before and after the bibliography title. Single line spacing should be left between the sources.

As The Archival World, the ethical responsibilities below are prepared in accordance with the ethical rules and responsibilities specified by the "Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)". Journal editors, referees and authors are expected to act in accordance with the ethical rules below. Our journal serves on the DergiPark platform and is published in accordance with all scientific ethical rules.

ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR EDITORS

Responsibility for the Journal Content:


The editor is responsible for every article published in the journal and must ensure the quality of the material they publish and maintain the integrity of the published record. In this context, the editor;

 Decides only academically and takes full responsibility for these decisions.
 Takes care to act in accordance with the principle of freedom of thought in order to evaluate the works fairly and impartially.
 Executes business processes in accordance with intellectual property rights and ethical standards.
 Makes efforts to meet the information needs of readers and writers and constantly tries to ensure the development of the journal.
 Protects the confidentiality of the authors and referees and manages the referee process accordingly.
 Takes the opinions of the author, the reader and the referee committee members into the development of the journal's processes.
 Follows the researches about refereeing and publishing and reviews the processes of the journal in the light of new information.

Relationship with Readers

Editors pay attention to the authenticity of the published works, paying attention to the scientific contribution of the study to readers, researchers and practitioners. Editors also consider feedback from all stakeholders and strive to provide descriptive and informative feedback.

Relationships with Authors

Editors take care to review all work by appropriately qualified reviewers. Detailed information about the authors about the processes is given in the Writing Rules on The Archival World website. Editor is in constant communication with the writer in order to avoid any problems that may arise regarding the process.

Relationships with Referees

During the appointment of the referees, editors are observed whether there is a conflict of interest among the authors and referees. Since the evaluation process is carried out by double blind method, the referees' identity information is kept confidential. The referees list of each issue is announced in the relevant number. Referees are encouraged to use a neutral, scientific and objective language when evaluating the study. Necessary studies are carried out for the referee pool to be composed of different disciplines and to be constantly updated. Unkind and unscientific evaluations are blocked or censored.

Refereeing and Evaluation Process

The editors are obliged to apply the "Refereeing and Evaluation Process" policies in the Editorial Guidelines. In this context, editors ensure that the fair, impartial and timely evaluation process of each work is completed. In the reports they prepare, the referees can make a definite opinion about whether the study is published or not. However, the Editor / Editorial Board can make a decision based on the similar and opposite opinions of the referees evaluating the study. The Editor / Editorial Board does not look at the number of referees who accept or reject this issue, but the strength of the arguments of the referees or authors. The Editor / Editorial Board takes into account reports that include strong, justified proposals rather than reports with yes or no evaluation questions. The referee can see that his or her views are not fully reflected in the study after a study has been published. It is possible for other referees to have different opinions and the Editor / Editorial Board has also taken these opinions into consideration. In this case, at the request of the referee evaluating the study, the opinions of other referees can be sent to him if the Editorial Board approves. According to the recommendations of the referees, the Editor / Editorial Board follows one of the following ways:


 Can publish the study.
 May accept partial and significant changes and improvements to publication.
 It may ask the author / authors to arrange their work in accordance with their opinions and initiate a new evaluation process.
 He may refuse to work.

Editorial Board Members

Care is taken to identify members of the appropriate editorial board who will contribute to the development of the journal. Members of the Editorial Board are reviewed regularly. The editor receives ideas from the board members about the management of the journal, reports changes in journal policies, and consults regularly (for example, once a year) to plan for the future.

Protection of Personal Data


Editors refuse to work unless there is an explicit consent of individuals used in studies containing personal data.
In addition, editors; the author is responsible for protecting the individual data of the referee and readers.

Ethics Committee, Human and Animal Rights

Editors pay attention to ensure the protection of human and animal rights in the evaluated works.
Ethics committee approval for subjects used in studies is responsible for refusing to work in cases where there is no permit for experimental research.

Protection of Intellectual Property Rights

Editors are obliged to protect the intellectual property right of all published articles and to defend the rights of the journal and author (s) in possible violations.

Creativity and Openness to Discussion


Editors take into account the criticism of the works published in the journal and endeavor to take a constructive attitude towards these criticisms.

Complaints

The editors attempt to respond in a descriptive manner by carefully examining complaints from the author and referee or readers.

Plagirism Check 

Reported researches should be prepared in accordance with ethical rules and the citations made in the text should be indicated. Studies submitted to our journal are evaluated in the Ithenticate program after the referee evaluation process is completed, in order to prevent plagiarism before publication.

The upper limit of similarity ratio is 20%.

If Encountered with an Unethical Situation;

When an important mistake or mistake is noticed in a published article, or when a behavior or content that does not comply with the ethical responsibilities mentioned above is encountered, it must be reported to arsivdunyasidergisi@gmail.com via e-mail.                                                                                                                   

PUBLICATION PRINCIPLES

The Archival World (TAW) is a peer-reviewed national journal and is published half-yearly in June and December. In each issue, a maximum of 10 scientific articles are published, which are Reviewed by 2 referees with the double blind method. In addition, publications such as non-refereed articles, review articles, interviews, technical notes, book promotion and reviews are also accepted.

The Archival World holds and accepts theoretical and applied interdisciplinary studies such as in Archiving, Librarianship, Records Management, Information Management, Electronic Information and Records Management, Historical Archives, Cultural History, Diplomatics, Museology.

Articles submitted to The Archival World are reviewed by two referees from different universities. Articles that receive negative reports from both referees are not published. If one of the referee states positive and the other is negative, the article is sent to a third referee. The opinion of the third referee is essential in the publication of the article.

Articles submitted to The Archival World should not be published elsewhere or submitted for publication; in the submission of articles, the authors are deemed to have committed this situation. Articles not in compliance with the principles of publication are not taken into the referee review process.
The scientific methods valid in the preparation of the article should be followed, the information such as subject of the study, purpose, scope, justification for preparation etc. should be provided in sufficient and certain order.

The Archival World accepts studies in Turkish and English. Articles that sent to the journal should not be exceeded 25 pages including all content (main text, tables, figures, bibliographic notes etc.).

As a result of the preliminary review by the editors, the studies which do not comply with the "The Archival World Writing Rules" and "Publication Principles" are sent back to the author.
Articles submitted to the journal for publication should be prepared in accordance with the writing rules which specified in the journal and should be submitted in full, including bibliographies.

The opinions adopted in the published articles are not the opinion of the journal, but are the responsibility of each author.

If the research results requiring an “Research Rthics Committee Approval” are included in the studies sent to The Archival World, A copy of the “Research Rthics Committee Approval” form should be uploaded to the system.

Submitting the study to The Archival World is accepted as an application for the publication of the study.

The Archival World adopts open access approach. No fee is requested by no means from the authors for the articles and other studies published in the journal. In addition, no royalty is paid to the authors for the articles.

After the editor and referee review processes, the journal is opened with the "Early View" option for the last review and controls.

In our journal, the publications are fully evaluated and made ready for publication within an average of 45 days.

LICENSING & COPYRIGHT

The Archival World is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Click for detailed information. With this license, users can distribute, copy, work on the work by referring to the license owner, and use the work for derivative works by referring to the owner. No transaction fee is requested by the journal for articles and texts.No fee is paid to the authors for the articles published in the journal. Authors must fill the copyright transfer form for the submitted articles.


The journal grounds on open-access approach and never charges for scientific articles and other various texts including evaluation processes which will be published.
